If you remember nothing else from this sermon except for this verse, then you will have gained much indeed.
We are called to dwell. This means taking up a permanent place, settling down; it’s even used for marriage at times.
The place we are to dwell is the shelter of the Most High. “Shelter” here means a hiding place, a refuge.
Those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High will abide there. It will be a place of permanent rest, a haven, safe harbor against the violent storms of life.
It is permanent because it is the shadow of the Almighty. The thing about being in a shadow is that something is between you and the sun. To be in God’s shadow means that God is directly between you and the threats of the world.
