Let’s understand that having a powerful experience doesn’t save anyone. The invalid was healed in an incredible way, and ended up rejecting Christ.
Let’s also understand that while eternal life comes freely through Jesus Christ to all who believe, believing is very, very hard. It’s hard to abandon deeply held traditions, even when they are false. It’s hard to abandon superstitions, even when they cause immense suffering.
What we clearly see in this story is that physical healing is not enough. Infusions of strength are not enough. Emotional experiences are not enough. We need to be born again; we need the gift of faith. We need to be delivered from false beliefs and superstitions. Praise God, His Word is the truth that sets us free.
